Ange Postecoglou just said the quiet part out loud about Tottenham's failing culture

And he's 100 per cent right.

Ange Postecoglou made an appearance on The Overlap podcast this morning... And it's fair to say he's taken the Tottenham fanbase by storm. He purposefully made an appearance after his successor, Thomas Frank, was sent packing a day prior, and he's called Tottenham out on a few things.

One thing that Tottenham fans can respect Ange Postecoglou for, other than obviously lifting a European trophy, is his ability to say things as they are. He was never around to be a people pleaser, and he didn't sugarcoat his words. Turns out, some things never change.

Ange Postecoglou didn't miss a single note when calling out Tottenham

Speaking on The Overlap, Ange Postecoglou said that Tottenham preach a lot about daring, but it is not part of their culture. Ange said, "When you walk into Tottenham, what you see everywhere is 'to dare is to do'. It's everywhere and yet their actions are almost the antithesis of that."

That's absolutely spot on.

Part of the problem is that Tottenham is praised too much for being a financially well-run club. That's exactly the problem, though; this is a sport, it's not a business. Fans do not care about profit and loss sheets; they care about turning up to matches and enjoying themselves.

If you were to ask any Tottenham fan, they would absolutely swap profit margins for success. If they wouldn't, well, they'd probably end up as a club owner.

Ange Postecoglou dared, and he did. By the very nature of what Tottenham preaches, he should have been given a contract extension for winning the Europa League, not been sent packing.

Winning a European trophy as a Tottenham manager in the 21st century was seen as impossible. In many ways, it was impossible. That only made Ange Postecoglou's achievement more impressive.

Tottenham needs more of that. They do not need yes-men; they had that for years, and it got them frankly nowhere.

Granted, Ange Postecoglou was an incredibly frustrating coach. He was unorthodox, and most weeks, Tottenham fans hated being fans. That moment of joy, lifting the Europa League title, made it all worthwhile. That was because Ange dared to be disliked, and in the end, that courage made him loved.

Ironically, it was those who preach courage and bravery that punished him for it. Now that his successor has sent Spurs close to the relegation zone, we know that getting rid of Ange Postecoglou was the wrong choice.

Ange coming out and saying this might seem reactionary to some, but he's doing Tottenham fans a massive favor. They've been thinking this for years, and Ange is sticking it to those who need to listen.
