Tottenham Hotspur haven't had a great start to the 2024/25 season. However, Ange Postecoglou is unlikely to adapt his tactical approach anytime soon.

Ange Postecoglou is a very stubborn manager. That said, stubbornness is not inherently a bad trait.

The Aussie boss knows what he wants from his players. He isn't the type of manager to adapt his tactics to fit his players so instead, he will adapt his players to fit his tactics.

This is why Tottenham fans are asked to be patient with Ange Postecoglou. He has a proven track record of success at his former clubs. Not much of that success, though, came in his previous first seasons.

So, what has Ange Postecoglou had to say about his tactics after the October international break?

Speaking to Optus Sports, Ange Postecoglou defended his tactical approach. He claimed that while he might be unorthodox, he is unlikely to change anytime soon. The last thing he wants is to change his tactics to fit in.

In his own words, Postecoglou said: "What everyone wants me to do is what everyone else does. Now, I’m just not going to do that because there’s a reason I’m here today, it’s not because I’ve done what everyone else does."

Postecoglou continued: “So I think everyone has their own unique journey to get to somewhere, I didn’t get here by doing what everyone else is doing."

Finally, Postecoglou commented on the criticism which he feels. However, he does not seem fazed by the criticism and he won't use it to justify any changes in his approach.

Postecoglou said: “So I get the people who say ‘be more pragmatic’ like everyone else but I don’t want to be like everyone else. What others see as stubbornness or me being dogmatic, I see as real belief in what I’m doing.”

After the October international break, Tottenham face West Ham. Form is very rarely taken into account when London derbies are played. Both sides will be eager to prove a point and gain bragging rights.

Before the break, Tottenham put together a string of good results. However, in the final game, they bottled a 2-0 lead over Brighton and Hove Albion. This can only be put down to complacency, which Ange will wish to avoid in the following games.

If things carry on like this, Ange Postecoglou may have no choice but to listen to criticism.
