The signing of Andy Robertson is a big capture for Tottenham Hotspur. However, it does leave Djed Spence in a difficult position.

Despite being right-footed, Spence operates at left-back. Therefore, Spence's game time will likely decrease with the acquisition of the legendary Liverpool full-back. This season, Spence played 44 games for Spurs. However, he did not have a single goal or assist. His saving grace is that he is versatile and can play left midfield, right-back, and right midfield.

Spence is 25, so he is at an age where he would want to stake a claim as a regular in Tottenham's lineup. He would be disappointed that they have brought in a replacement for him.

Other Tottenham left-backs, including Destiny Udogie, who is 23, and Souza, who is just 19, will fear that their development will be stalled. Robertson is now 32 and would want to play regularly after Liverpool tried to replace him last season with Milos Kerkez.

Djed Spence will be concerned about his future game time at Tottenham

Despite this, Robertson still featured 36 times in all competitions for the Reds, where he scored three times and provided two assists. These are not the numbers that Robertson has been used to during his nine years at Liverpool. He will grow frustrated if he is not used regularly by Roberto De Zerbi.

Spurs suffered a disappointing campaign and survived relegation by a hair's breadth. What is important for Tottenham is that they are not in this situation again. Therefore, fielding the strongest lineup is what De Zerbi will do.

Juventus tried to hijack Robertson's move to Tottenham, and Spence has also been linked with the Italian giants. He has played in Italy before, whilst on loan at Genoa. He has also played for Rennes in Ligue 1. He also has experience in the Championship with Leeds United, Middlesbrough, and Nottingham Forest.

Spence is from London and played youth soccer for Fulham before moving to Boro. He is not afraid to move if he is not happy where he is. Therefore, a transfer away from Tottenham could be what is best for his career. Juve may come calling again after missing out on Robertson.

He has four England caps and has been included in Thomas Tuchel's roster for the World Cup. However, he will not be able to keep his place in the Three Lions' roster if he does not get regular game time at his club.
