Analysis of each performance in the win over Manchester City
By Tom Vinall
James Maddison
What a way to celebrate your birthday. Having found himself out of the team at times before the break, and then spending another international window at home, the now 28-year old responded in the best way possible. Two goals at the Etihad, it really does not get much better than that.
In fairness, he would know about a hammering at the Etihad, having scored a sublime curling effort for Leicester City, as they beat City 5-2 away from home in 2020. That said, this time he was able to do it in front of an absolutely jubilant away end.
You would be doing Maddison a disservice to just mention the goals, mind you. His overall performance was absolutely outstanding. The midfielder won 9/13 of his ground duels, and drew five fouls. You are going to have to suffer at times when you have to play here, and his performance helped Spurs withstand any pressure from the hosts. Brilliant, brilliant stuff.
