Analysis of each performance in the win over Manchester City
By Tom Vinall
Yves Bissouma
Most Spurs fans were fearing for the worst when Bissouma found himself in the referees book just 15 seconds into the game. The midfielder got sent off for two yellow cards in the first half at Luton Town last season, with the second being for a dive. Then there was the straight red card at Nottingham Forest.
It really was a disciplined performance to play 90 minutes at the Etihad on a yellow card and not get yourself sent off. It shows the trust Ange is showing in the midfielder to keep him out there, particularly for the second half. Of course, the Rodrigo Bentancur suspension likely played a part in that, but Ange could have easily reshuffled the shape of the midfield if he wanted to.
There was one moment in the second half where he gave the ball away in a dangerous area, but it did not lead to anything fatal, and apart from that he was pretty flawless. With the aforementioned suspension for Bentancur, he is now more important than ever in domestic games, so let’s keep this going.
