Having looked clearly fatigued before the break, Udogie playing just 34 minutes over the break was really handy and convenient. The Italian full-back looked much fresher here and back to his brilliant best that we have seen in the past.
There were times in the game where Spurs were playing out from the back on the edge of their own box, but Udogie’s technical security really helped Ange’s side play out of the City press, helping them create chances in transition.
The defender’s intensity is really important in any game, especially these games, and his ability to win duels helped Spurs when they were facing pressure. It is clear that all the defender needed was some rest, and it is no coincidence that his best performance in a while immediately after that.
