Analysis of each performance in the win over Manchester City
By Tom Vinall
Dejan Kulusevski
As mentioned earlier, Kulusevski has spent most of this season operating in a deeper, right sided central midfield role. For this game, Ange moved him back to the right-wing, in a decision that raised quite a few eyebrows.
It would end up being a masterstroke. The 24-year old played an absolutely scintillating, curling cross from the right hand side, allowing Maddison, whom had made a superb run, to stab the ball home from close range.
In the second half, he was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet himself, twisting his marker inside out, before being denied by Ederson. In the build-up to Porro’s goal, the Swedish international did incredibly well to withhold pressure from City players in the middle of the park, showing excellent skill and ball carrying, before playing a superb one-two with Son, allowing him to release Solanke in behind.
He may not have made it four goals in as many appearances at the Dekihad, but make no bones about it, this was one of his best performances of the campaign - and that takes some doing.
Safe to say that Kulusevski has been Spurs’ best player this season, as well as one of the best performers in the entire Premier League. That to go along with his sublime performances for Sweden, and you would suggest that the number 21 is having the best season of his career.
