Tottenham are involved in a battle for their Premier League lives, and so far, it is not going well, leaving Ally McCoist less than confident about their survival chances. Spurs are still two points from safety, and Leeds United have also departed the relegation race, having all but secured safety.

Nottingham Forest are also threatening to pull away, likely only needing four more points, but the East Midlands side indeed has a particularly difficult fixture list, so they will need a couple of big results themselves.

But for now, it does look as though the main race will be between Tottenham and West Ham, who are separated by just two points, and with the bulk of the momentum with the Hammers.

West Ham once looked as though they would be cut adrift, but a turnaround in the second half of the season has given Nuno Espirito Santo the chance to relegate his former club, and a former club he will feel did him wrong in only giving him a handful of games before sacking him.

Both sides drew their last game, with no change in the standings, aside from Forest winning, and the race is now on, with just five games remaining. Spurs simply have to win against bottom club Wolves this weekend, with that game clearly the most winnable on their schedule.

Roberto De Zerbi's men then have games against Aston Villa, Leeds United, Chelsea and Everton. Meanwhile, West Ham face Everton, Brentford, Arsenal, Newcastle United and Leeds United.

Ally McCoists paints the grim Tottenham reality with points projection

As we prepare to enter the final straight, TalkSport pundit Ally McCoist has spoken about the relegation race, and he was asked to predict all of the remaining Tottenham and West Ham games.

He said of Tottenham's games: "Win vs Wolves, Loss to Villa, Draw with Leeds, Loss to Chelsea, Draw with Everton.

Meanwhile, he said of West Ham's games: "Draw with Everton, Draw with Brentford, Draw with Arsenal, Loss to Newcastle, Win vs Leeds."

Those results would mean Tottenham reach 36 points, while West Ham would make 39 points, securing safety on the final day of the season with a big win against Leeds. The predictions would mean there is one point separating the two sides going into the last day of the season.

We don't have the Forest predictions, but you would assume McCoist feels as though the East Midlands side will secure safety, given they were not mentioned. Forest already have 36 points, so with those predictions, they would only need one more point to escape Tottenham's reach.
