Tottenham Hotspur's new squad for the 2026/27 Premier League season is beginning to take shape, as six new signings have been this summer transfer window and four more could be coming to seal the attack, with two new wingers and a new striker rumored to be the three big priorities for the Italian manager Roberto De Zerbi before the window closes in August.
Although Savinho is the only forward on Tottenham's list with a concrete approach, things should begin to accelerate as August comes close. And now that De Zerbi has dropped a big hint that a top signing could be coming soon, Football.London journalist Alasdair Gold has dropped an even bigger hint on who that may be.
Per Gold, De Zerbi is a "big admirer" of Manchester City star left winger Omar Marmoush, whom some Tottenham Hotspur fans actually saw as a better fit for their needs than Savinho last summer transfer window when the two names popped up.
Omar Marmoush will be back on the radar
Marmoush was a target of Spurs in the winter window, too, but he and Man City decided against a move after all. And Savinho was injured at that time, preventing the summer talks from continuing. While Tottenham have made an approach for Savinho and seem to be closing in on the Brazilian winger this summer despite Man City's surprising continued reluctance on a player they barely played last season, Spurs fans have yet to hear of real interest in Marmoush.
That could potentially change, and it is easy to see why Roberto De Zerbi would love Marmoush. He was arguably the best player in the Bundesliga when looking back at how he carried Eintracht Frankfurt prior to his move to Manchester City, once single handedly taking the fight to Bayern Munich and getting a point off the biggest club in Germany.
Whereas Savinho is an electrifying left footer who can play on either flank as a traditional winger to take defenders on and create chaos, Marmoush is a skilled chaos creator with the physical strength and shooting ability to score 10-20 goals per season reliably.
Tottenham Hotspur need goals from the wing, and while Mathys Tel, already this preseason, is showing that he has the long term quality to be a potential option on the left, Spurs already saw last season that he is still too raw to be their only option on that wing. Marmoush would make a ton of sense this summer if Man City are willing to sell.
