Andy Robertson is leaving Liverpool this summer and is set to sign for Tottenham Hotspur, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.

The transfer expert posted on X: "Tottenham reach verbal agreement to sign Andy Robertson, here we go! Pact expected to be respected and deal to be signed soon despite Juventus proposal to try hijack the deal. Robertson, wanted by THFC last January and again now with (Roberto) De Zerbi."

There will be winners and sore losers across the Premier League and Europe because of this deal.

Tottenham

Tottenham is gaining a very experienced player, who is a real leader. Spurs lacked leaders as they fought a battle to stay in the Premier League this season. Under De Zerbi, they will be looking up the table. The addition of Robertson will give Spurs fans hope that they can get back to where they believe they belong.

Andy Robertson

At the age of 32, it is good that Robertson can make this move to another top Premier League club. Despite his age, he still played 24 times in the league last season. It remains to be seen how long he can continue to play at the highest level.

The player is also still a Scotland international, so it is good for him to get his club future sorted ahead of the World Cup. Robertson was also linked with Juventus, AC Milan, Fenerbahce, Wrexham, and Celtic, so it is great for the left-back that he will not have to join a division with less quality.

Liverpool

Robertson has been a great servant to Liverpool and a key part of their success in the Premier League and the Champions League. It is always difficult for clubs to move on from legends in a respectful manner, but they gave him a good send-off alongside Mohamed Salah, who will also be departing the club this summer.

Liverpool already has a replacement for Robertson in Milos Kerkez. Releasing the Scotsman and getting him off their payroll will free up wages for more signings.

Destiny Udogie

When signing an ageing player, it is often not good for a young player's development. Destiny Udogie may now lack game time at Tottenham next season. Udogie has missed a lot of games recently due to injury, so it is no surprise that Spurs have brought in an additional left-back.

Udogie may be able to learn from Robertson, but experience on the field is vital. The same goes for Tottenham's other left-backs, Djed Spence and Souza.

Juventus

Roberton has also been linked with Juventus, but the Serie A side will have to seek alternative options. It must have been very flattering for Robertson to have Juventus interested in him. Especially as Italian teams have always valued great defenders.

Juventus may now look to sign Alejandro Grimaldo of Bayer Leverkusen or Souffian El Karouani of Utrecht to boost their options at left-back.

Premier Legue rivals

Spurs have finished in a very disappointing 17th place in the last two Premier League seasons. However, De Zerbi has vowed that the club should never be in this position again. Tottenham should be rivaling clubs for European qualification.

Robertson helped Liverpool finish fifth this season and qualify for the Champions League. Therefore, clubs with ambitions of qualifying for Europe must now be wary that Spurs are rebuilding their roster. Tottenham may have another disastrous campaign and is fighting relegation again. Robertson fought many of these when he was at Hull City, so he has the experience to deal with them.
