Tottenham Hotspur desperately need to add a new No. 9 to their squad this summer, and they need someone who can score goals, have a decent all around game, or has enough upside to become better over the next few years. Spurs would ideally sign a striker to replace either Richarlison or Dominic Solanke, though it is anyone's guess as to which one Roberto De Zebri prefers.
So far, no player, other than Liverpool's Cody Gakpo as a false nine, has been concretely linked to Spurs without then falling off the list (Eli Junior Kroupi). Here are three overlooked names to consider at striker for Tottenham in 2026.
Christian Kofane, Bayer Leverkusen
In all honesty, Christian Kofane is probably a year away from a big move and still needs some seasoning in the Bundesliga, but the sad part is that the Nigerian prospect is already as good of a striker as the 65 million pound Dominic Solanke.
Bayer Leverkusen are great at selling player and won't sell Kofane for less than a fortune, but this guy does have the potential to be special. His raw athletic tools are off the charts, and Kofane has a good feel for the game out of possession. His all-around game is among the best in Europe as a U21 prospect, and he is someone worth keeping in mind if Spurs want a young striker alongside Solanke and Richy in the case that De Zerbi believes in both - or if he wants a young striker signing to supplement a veteran in replacing one of the two incumbents.
Mikel Oyarzabal, Real Sociedad
It's best not to buy someone just because of a great World Cup, but Mikel Oyarzabal's status as the main scorer for world champions Spain is not out of nowhere. Oyarzabal has been one of La Liga's best forwards for years and a fixture at Real Sociedad. He is so intelligent and a deft finisher with one of the best technical skill sets in Spanish football. The argument of his athleticism fitting the Premier League doesn't hold water, because in recovering from his ACL tear, Oyarzabal has proven he doesn't need to win with anything other than his brain.
Amine Gouiri, Marseille
Roberto De Zerbi absolutely loves Amine Gouiri, whom he coached and often praised highly at Marseille. Gouiri has been around the block in the French top flight, but now that he is entering his prime, the player once considered a potential heir to Karim Benzema at Real Madrid has yet to fully put it together. An upgrade on Dominic Solanke, perhaps Gouiri could finally bust out under the full coaching tutelage of De Zerbi with Spurs in 2027.
