Tottenham Hotspur have now lost by a combined 5-0 in their first two Premier League matches against Brentford and Newcastle United, having been embarrassed again on Matchday 2 this weekend against the Magpies at home.
As Spurs pursue Cody Gakpo as a final piece to the puzzle in the attack, there are still a few players who could leave the squad as Roberto De Zerbi culls things to a more comfortable smaller squad. Here are three players who could still leave the Lilywhites this summer transfer window.
ST Richarlison
Brazilian international Richarlison was so bad on Matchday 1 that he is now a prime transfer candidate, and if Cody Gakpo comes to Tottenham, he is pretty much guaranteed to go in order to make space, with De Zerbi favoring Dominic Solanke between the two veteran strikers. Plus, a swap deal between Tottenham and Everton is on the table so that Spurs can land a potential Plan B to Richy if Gakpo were to move to Manchester City instead. And that Plan B would be Iliman Ndiaye.
CB Kevin Danso
The Austrian international has made it known behind the scenes that he is open to leaving Tottenham Hotspur, and the Lilywhites have already fielded an early offer from Sunderland. Danso is key to the team even in a fourth center back role, but he may not want that, which is understandable. Kevin Danso was once one of the best players in Ligue 1 at Lens, and he could start for a number of teams in the Premier League. Spurs are under no pressure to sell, but De Zerbi has said in the past he is willing to sell players who do no want to be here. And that may be the case with Danso right now.
CM Pape Matar Sarr
Lucas Bergvall is staying at Tottenham, and even though he has been a disaster to start both the Premier League and League Cup campaigns this year, Roberto De Zerbi and the club have a lot of hope tied up in him long term, managing to convince the Swedish international into staying. Spurs, on the other hand, are likely to sell Pape Matar Sarr, who barely plays and has no real fit in the De Zerbi system. The Italian manager clearly does not favor Sarr, but several teams around the world do, including clubs in Saudi Arabia and Turkey that can pay a lot of money.
