It has only been four games into the 2026/27 Premier League season, and while much of the reactions about Tottenham Hotspur thus far have been overreactions, there is no doubt that Spurs still have a long way to go before they can become a top five team in the league again after back to back 17th placed finishes. And right now, 17th is where they still stand under Roberto De Zerbi, who only just barely kept the Lilywhites afloat from relegation last season.
it's early, but here are three players Tottenham already need to think about moving on from when the winter transfer window opens up.
ST Richarlison
Let's just knock Richarlison out of the way early, because he is the most obvious player to get rid of. The situation between Roberto De Zerbi and Richarlison has become toxic, and it has gotten to the point where very few Spurs fans are taking the side of the Brazilian striker despite all that he has given to the club, including playing a crucial role in saving them from relegation last season as their leading scorer.
The problem is that Richy doesn't seem to be honest about his intentions, and few fans believe that he actually wanted to stay at the club. It is well within his right to not want to take a paycut, but he can at least be honest that this is why he didn't want to accept offers from the likes of Everton. Spurs need to move on, regardless of what they get in return.
CM Conor Gallagher
Conor Gallagher has been Tottenham's worst player again thus far, and even De Zerbi has to acknowledge that he can't get the former Atletico Madrid man to play like a competent attacking midfielder. He is worse than the No. 8's Spurs have, he would only be taking minutes from Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall, and he clearly isn't good enough to be a No. 10 in the Premier League. If there are any takers, he has to go.
ST Dominic Solanke
Roberto De Zerbi is a big fan of Dominic Solanke, but Tottenham Hotspur supporters certainly aren't. Every time he gets an opportunity to prove the fans wrong, all he does is go ahead and prove them right. He can't score goals, and his supposedlly great all around play seems quite fraudulent at N17. Moving on from both strikers is a bold move, but Spurs need to clean house and get a new No. 9 to pair with Omar Marmoush this winter.
