Tottenham Hotspur were able to survive relegation from the Premier League thanks to new manager Roberto De Zerbi, but there are more major obstacles to come this summer and beyond that Spurs will have to navigate. Here are three of them.

Stars getting poached

Firstly, Tottenham cannot afford to lose the talented young stars of the future they already have, even as they work on making key upgrades, in particular players who can score goals. Micky van de Ven, Pedro Porro, Luka Vuskovic, Lucas Bergvall, Archie Gray, and Mathys Tel are important players in the present and potential pillars of the future (or already the present) and all of them have been linked with moves outside N17. Spurs cannot afford to lose any of these players, and their first biggest hurdle this summer will be to hold onto their young nucleus so they can really build something under De Zerbi.

No European football

In order to attract the biggest players in Europe, Tottenham need to be in the Champions League, bu they are not even in European football. At least the season before, they finished 17th but won the Europa League to return to Champions League football. Now, they have nothing, and a club that already didn't even get a sniff from Antoine Semenyo and Omar Marmoush is going to have serious trouble bringing in the sorts of jaw dropping players the fans want in an era without Harry Kane and Son Heung-min. For example, could you really see Rafael Leao wanting to move to a club without Champions League football after deeming AC Milan not good enough for him?

Bad leadership

The real biggest obstacle to any success at Tottenham Hotspur is the same problem that has always been there. ENIC and the Lewis Family are not serious about investing in this club and actually challenging the elite clubs with true superstars who bring goals and game breaking ability, while Johan Lange and Vinai Venkatesham have been an awful duo, with even Fabio Paratici escaping to Fiorentian mid season to get away from them after their bizarre infatuation with Thomas Frank. Spurs supporters have a vote of no confidence going for Vinai and Lange, while those above them hold a special place in their fury. Until Spurs start making better decisions as an organization and set a path towards sporting success, fans are not going to buy into the club and have no reason to do so.
