Spurs had a terrible string of bad luck in their loss to Chelsea, seeing both Micky van de Ven and James Maddison leave the pitch due to injury. Now, it seems that Tottenham’s injury woes have become even worse.

According to the Athletic’s Charlie Eccleshare and Jack Lang, Richarlison will be undergoing pelvic surgery very soon, leaving him out of action for the foreseeable future.

The player opened up in September about his psychological health, and since then his form has been on and off. However, the injury comes at a really tough time for the club, with the list of players out of commission piling up: Micky van de Ven, James Maddison, Ben Davies, and Manor Solomon just to name a few.

Now, Ange will have some tough decisions to make and an extremely limited squad to work with. This could mean calling up some of the youth players to provide more depth in the attacking role.

Currently, Troy Parrott and Dane Scarlett are out on loan, meaning Ange will likely pick Alejo Veliz and Jamie Donley as options from the bench.

Veliz has slowly been getting more game time and could be the go-to backup option. Jamie Donley, who is currently flying for the U-21s, has also been called up in the past and would be another reasonable pick.

The unfortunate reality of the current situation is such that Spurs will likely be clawing their way through the next few matches. Defensively, they’ll have to call up Ashley Phillips at center back  with Romero out for the next three games, VDV injured, and Ben Davies still recovering from an ankle strain.

Hopefully all goes well for Richy with his surgery and recovery. Spurs will now have to really hope that they can make it to January without picking up more knocks.
