There’s no question that the Tottenham of the present is almost unrecognizable when compared to the Tottenham of the past ten-odd years. The main difference, as any supporter knows, is the absence of club veteran Harry Kane.

The English captain’s late move to Bayern Munich was a worrying site for many, raising questions about how the team would get on without him and a new manager nonetheless.

However, despite the concerns, Spurs have kicked things off with an incredible opening couple of months.

In yesterday’s press conference, Ange spoke on the team’s performance without the player and how they’ve adapted to make things work:

“[It] gave us an opportunity to try and play a different way, set up a different way and that’s what we’ve tried to do… to become a really strong football team in terms of having multiple attacking threats where hopefully on any given day we can hurt teams in many different ways.”

The front line has been just as adaptive as Ange alluded to thanks to new signings Manor Solomon and Brennan Johnson, and especially because of the high work rate of club captain Heung-min Son.

Spurs have scored 18 goals across eight games, and they truly have come from everywhere on the pitch, with defenders like Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero even finding the back of the net.

Daniel Levy’s mention of the Kane buy-back clause in recent times has raised some eyebrows about his potential return to North London one day. Nevertheless, Ange has continued to move forward with the players he has, using their best attributes and an attacking style of football to create countless chances each game.

It will be interesting to see how Johnson factors into the squad once he is healthy and starts getting regular minutes, and with Bentancur looking to get back in the squad in the next month or two, Spurs attack could continue to improve.

Tottenham host Fulham this Monday with a return from the international break. Ange will be looking to stay true to his word and keep the goals coming.
