Monaco and Tottenham negotiations advancing over Sanchez transfer

Davinson Sanchez’s future may become much clearer in the coming week, as various reports suggest Tottenham and Monaco are in advanced discussions over his potential transfer. 

The Colombian has recently impressed, gradually climbing Ange’s pecking-order totem pole. However, Sanchez is still expected to depart for pastures anew, hopefully before the Sept. 1 deadline.

Spanish journalist Pipe Sierra and the Mail Online are covering the story, saying Monaco is gung-ho about acquiring Sanchez. That’s after Monaco’s negotiations with Fulham over Tosin Adarabioyo have reportedly gone awry.

And no, that doesn’t mean Tottenham has a chance of signing Adarabioyo. The Fulham centre-back does not desire a move to Spurs, and, despite the latest Monaco setback, it’s unlikely he’ll change his mind in the coming weeks.

Spurs nonsensically accepted a £12.9 million bid from Spartak Moscow earlier in the transfer window for Sanchez, a move the Colombian rejected faster than his 40-metre dash.

If Monaco offers at least £10 million, don’t be surprised if a deal is reached before the Sept. 1 deadline. With only two weeks left in the transfer period, the need to trim the fat has never been so urgent.

Sanchez has improved substantially in the short time he has worked with Ange. For the most part, he was excellent in the opener against Brentford after replacing Cristian Romero. But it’s a case of too little, too late for the 27-year-old, who cost the club a then-record £42 million in 2017.

While no financials have been reported, it’s unlikely Spurs will receive more than £13 million, which Spartak offered a few weeks ago.

As with every other potential Tottenham transfer, we’ll have to sit idly by and wait, seemingly forever, to see if Sanchez will indeed be offloaded before the transfer window slams shut.
