Tottenham Hotspur draws Fulham in Carabao Cup second round

It’s not exactly the draw Tottenham had hoped for, as it faces a stern test at Craven Cottage against Fulham in the second round of the Carabao Cup.
Premier League sides often avoid each other until the third or fourth round, but not this time.
Ange’s Carabao Cup introduction will take place at Craven Cottage against a Fulham side that finished 10th last season, just two places below Spurs.
However, without any European competition to worry about, Ange will almost certainly take the competition more seriously than his predecessors. That won’t take much, as Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte probably would have forfeited if the option presented itself.
Sour grapes aside, Tottenham has an opportunity to oust a Premier League side in its first Carabao Cup encounter.
The match will be played the week of Aug. 28, most likely on Tuesday, Aug. 29, or Wednesday, Aug. 30. We’re still waiting for confirmation regarding the day and time.
Tottenham plays away to Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday, Aug. 26.
Spurs crashed out of the Carabao Cup in the third round of last season’s competition, losing 2-0 at the City Ground against Nottingham Forest.
The last time Tottenham won silverware was in this competition. Take a time portal back to 2008, and you’ll see Spurs beating Chelsea 2-1 at Wembley in the EFL Cup final. Jonathan Woodgate scored the extra-time winner.
You might also recall the last time Spurs made the final. In 2021, Mourinho was sacked just six days before Spurs lost 1-0 to Manchester City.
