The answer Tottenham supporters have been hoping and waiting for has arrived, as the club has turned down Bayern Munich’s “third and final” offer for Harry Kane.

Unless something drastic were to happen in the coming days, Kane is staying at Tottenham for at least one more season. The Spurs’ ace scored four goals in yesterday’s pre-season match against Shakhtar Donetsk, playing like he didn’t have a care in the world.

Whether that’s because he already knew of Daniel Levy’s decision doesn’t really matter now. The decision is made and, after what seemed like an eternity, should finally put an end to Bayern’s ravenous pursuit.

Levy took the weekend before providing Bayern with the answer they didn’t want to hear. Everyone associated with Tottenham Hotspur Football Club can now rejoice and draw breath, as losing Kane was an inconceivable notion, even if Levy’s £120 million asking price had been met, which it never was.

The latest offer was for just over €100 million plus add-ons.

Spurs can now hopefully put this damaging saga behind them as Ange tries to get his team match ready for Sunday’s opening Premier League contest against Brentford. The Bees have already played five friendlies opposed to Tottenham’s three.

But that lack of preparation pales in comparison to the relief everyone at the club will feel today, hopefully even Kane.

Kane would have had reservations about going to Bayern after how the German club handled the entire negotiation process. Not only did the German champions conduct their business in an oft-shameful way, but Kane started to see the light regarding Ange and how he is asking his team to play.

Kane will be the primary benefactor of Angeball, a tasty proposition for a striker who scores goals for fun regardless of the formation and system his side plays. Rest assured; his goal tally will invariably increase playing in such a dynamic offensive side.

On last season’s pace, Kane is less than two seasons away from pipping Alan Shearer’s all-time goalscoring record. He’s 48 short of hitting that mark and should be relatively close after the dust settles on the 2023-24 campaign.

Next. Letter to Kane: Bayern doesn't deserve you, stay at Tottenham. dark

Let the good times roll in N17. Tottenham fans rejoice. The decision everyone has stressed out over for almost two months is in. Now the club can work on convincing Kane that Tottenham is the place he should finish his career.

And with Ange at the helm, that proposition becomes more likely each passing day.
