According to various sources, Tottenham is getting closer to signing Rosario Central’s Alejo Véliz, who is seen as a forward for the future.

Like Joe Lewis’ countless criminal charges, this news has popped out of nowhere.

Véliz, 19, scored 11 goals and added an assist in 23 appearances in the 2022-23 Argentine Primera División. He scored two braces and has made nine appearances for the Under-20 Argentina national team.

If the reports come to fruition, Tottenham will pay almost £12 million for the prodigious teenager. The number of sources involved in the breaking news reinforces the rumour’s credence.

However, no agreement is in place yet, with negotiations still ongoing.

His salary would be minimal, and Veliz would be expected to remain at Rosario Central until the end of 2023 before making his way to north London.

It feels like the work Tottenham has done behind the scenes is starting to pay off.

Micky van de Ven and Ashley Phillips are also on the verge of joining Tottenham, while the Harry Kane decision will be made by Aug. 13 when Spurs kick off their campaign against Brentford.

If all aforementioned signings are secured and Kane stays put, gaffer Ange Postecoglou will be over the moon. However, some think the recent flurry of activity is due the club’s plan to sell Kane, which would bring in up to £100 million in additional cash flow.

The other side of the argument postulates that Daniel Levy has finally awoken from a deep trance, understanding the best way to keep Kane happy at the club is to surround him with depth and elite top-tier talent.

The new arrivals, if secured, won’t have heaps of time to adjust and adapt to their new environs, but it’s better than the alternative, which would see no reinforcements arriving at Hotspur Way.
