Another blow to injury-riddled wingback hamstrings Tottenham

According to the Daily Mail’s Sami Mokbel, Ryan Sessegnon has gone under the knife to repair his hamstring after suffering yet another injury to the susceptible muscle.
The Tottenham left-back has suffered a barrage of injuries throughout his professional career, most of which occurred to the hamstring in question.
He was in the process of rehabilitating from a previous hamstring injury when it gave way again. Sessegnon injured his hamstring in February, missing 19 matches spanning 139 days and counting.
The latest setback is a continuation of his third hamstring injury.
He suffered his first serious hamstring injury with Fulham in June 2019, making him miss 29 matches spanning 134 days.
He was also absent for 31 days across March and April 2022, missing five matches.
Add that trio of hamstring issues to a groin injury (12 days), an unspecified knock (42 days), a thigh issue (45 days), a bone bruise (74 days), and another undisclosed muscle injury (17 days), and you have a 23-year-old who has already missed 494 days to injury.
Tottenham knew the inherent risks when they signed Sessegnon for £25 million in 2019. In fact, the club signed the then-19-year-old while he was still on the treatment table at Fulham during recovery from his first severe hamstring problem.
While devastating news for the Englishman, the latest injury setback will come as no surprise to anyone at the club.
The injury-prone left back had uncapped potential when he signed for Fulham as a teenager.
Seen as one of the most promising young English talents, Sessegnon has been relentlessly struck down by the injury bug, demolishing any chance he had of reaching his potential.
There is no specific timeline regarding his return, but he will definitely be out until after the transfer period comes to a close.

It’s unfortunate news for Tottenham, too, as the club was open to selling the 23-year-old. Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace, and Fulham were all interested in signing him, but that prospect is no longer possible, further derailing the trajectory of Sessegnon’s career.
