The latest rumour to fly off the shelves links Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris with Inter Milan, a prospective move that probably won’t come to fruition.

Inter is about to lose first-choice goalkeeper Andre Onana to Manchester United, opening the door for a new No. 1 in Milan.

Foot Mercato’s Sebastien Denis believes Inter are interested in signing Lloris. While there might be some peripheral interest, Lloris to Inter Milan won’t happen unless the Serie A side’s Plan A goes haywire.

While not verified or confirmed, Shakhtar Donetsk’s Anatoliy Trubin is reportedly close to agreeing personal terms before a probable move to Inter. He is the club’s foremost interest in goal and would replace Onana as the club’s first-choice keeper.

It’s hard to conceive of Lloris going anywhere to play second fiddle, especially considering his illustrious and decorated career, including a World Cup triumph in 2018.

Even if he was open to the idea of playing backup, Inter is also highly interested in signing Yann Sommer. The Bayern Munich veteran is also looking for a fresh start, although he would prefer a No. 1 role too.

The Sommer to Inter Milan transfer has been in the pipeline for some time, with the veteran keeper reportedly content about a prospective move to the Serie A side.

Unless both negotiations go sideways, it’s improbable that the Lloris to Inter Milan speculation will manifest into more than rumour.

Inter has a clear plan, and Lloris isn’t a part of it, at least for the time being. Again, there is a chance Lloris will move to Inter, albeit minimal.

The Serie A side has been steadfast on Trubin since Manchester United started pursuing Onana, and it would take a drastic shift for the club to pivot to Lloris.
