Tottenham player ratings in insufferable home loss to Cherries

After falling behind due to a pair of inexplicable defensive lapses, Spurs thought they rescued a point thanks to Arnaut Danjuma’s late strike, only to be beaten at the death.
It was the dagger in Spurs’ top four hopes most have been expecting. You can’t lose to Bournemouth at home and expect to secure one of the four Champions League spots.
Here are the player ratings in another abject home performance, one that adds karosene to the behind-the-scenes fire at Hotspur Way.
Defence
Hugo Lloris 6/10
Under heaps of recent scrutiny, Hugo Lloris enjoyed a solid first half and wasn’t culpable for Bournemouth’s opener. He made an excellent reaction save off of a menacing Marcus Tavanier long range, left-footed effort.
Hugo wasn’t able to come off his line quickly enough to thwart Matias Vina’s dinked opener, though the Frenchman was provided a raw deal on the back of Pedro Porro’s giveaway.
He didn’t have much to say about Bournemouth’s winner either, although he wasn’t given a chance.
Clement Lenglet 8/10
Clement Lenglet started well before suffering what looked like a muscle injury that prematurely ended his afternoon.
The complexion of the match turned sour after Lenglet’s departure, thanks largely to Davinson Sanchez’s unwelcome introduction.
Eric Dier 5/10
Eric Dier made a sweet long-range pass in the first half and played fairly well in the first 30 or so minutes. However, he wasn’t able to pull up his socks and take a more prominent leadership role when Lenglet departed.
While not directly culpable for the Cherries goals, Dier didn’t do enough to rescue his team.
Cristian Romero 5/10
The Argentine endured one of his more disappointing outings of the season. He tried to be too cute at times, particularly with an egregious back-flicked giveaway in the 76th minut and wasn’t his usual domineering self. His passing was comparatively poor, too, only completing 81 percent, a subpar stat for a central defender.
