Tottenham Hotspur player ratings in 1-0 away loss to Wolves
By Gary Pearson
Midfield
Pierre Hojbjerg 4/10
The Danish midfielder went largely under the radar. He played pretty well in the first half and didn’t step a foot wrong. His distribution and decision-making were sound.
However, he disappeared for most of the second half, eventually losing the midfield battle to his counterpart Ruben Nevez. Hojbjerg’s second half wasn’t good enough, especially against a team in the relegation mix.
Oliver Skipp 5.5/10
Oliver Skipp continued where he left off from the Chelsea match. He was spry, mentally sharp, and dominated the midfield in the first half.
Skipp’s level fell off in the second half and he wasn’t as dominant, but neither was the rest of his team.
Ivan Perisic 4/10
Ivan Perisic has struggled recently, and his performance at Wolves was also underwhelming. Perisic lost Jimenez about 10 minutes into the second half, whose point-blank header was saved brilliantly by Forster.
The Croatian didn’t look particularly dangerous when Spurs were in possession.
Pedro Porro 6/10
Tottenham’s most recent signing showed promising signs of adapting to life in the Premier League. He struck the bar with a sublime free kick in the first half and tried again from long range midway through the second half, which was deflected just over.
Porro hasn’t scored yet for Spurs, but it looks like he’s starting to come to terms with the demands and rigours of the Premier League.
