In a match that seemingly could have gone either way, Harry Kane again delivered as Tottenham Hotspur continues their unbeaten start with a 1-0 win over Wolves.

We suspected Wolverhampton Wanderers would come to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium looking for a battle and some points. Wolves were undoubtedly ready for a scrap and at times took the game to Spurs; however, another Kane finish on a corner delivered three massive points for Tottenham Hotspur in a 1-0 win.

Another first half to forget for Tottenham

The first 45 minutes against Wolves on Saturday afternoon was a tale of two halves. For the first 20 minutes, Tottenham was the better team, looking the most likely to score on top of the ball dominating possession.

Unfortunately, the team squandered the early control and did little to worry the visitors. An organized Wolves defense kept Spurs at bay, not even allowing a shot, despite over 60% Tottenham possession in the first 25 minutes. And although they had minimal possession, the Wolves had four shots and were settling into the match.

The last 20-minutes of the first half were all Wolverhampton, as the Wolves held most of the possession and started pouring on the shots, attempting eight in the final 20-minutes. At half-time, the Wolves had 12 attempts, and possession was 51% Spurs and 49% Wolves.

Tottenham finished the half with fewer shot attempts – one – than Wolves’ attempts on goal – two.

Spurs were second best in the first half and needed to come out with more. Fortunately, a more vigorous second-half effort and another Kane corner goal would deliver the three points.
