It may have just been preseason-friendly number one, but three of the biggest stars for Tottenham Hotspur were shining bright in Seoul for Spurs.

Preparations for the new season are barely underway; however, three of Spurs’ biggest stars were on full display against Team K-League in Tottenham Hotspur’s preseason opener. In a match that was very much a tale of two halves, Spurs had the best player(s) on the pitch for each 45, starting with the first half.

Many fans are likely still wondering when the replacement for Eric Dier will be signed. If the match against Team K-League is any indication, it will not probably be soon. Dier was arguably the best player on the pitch for the first 45 minutes of the game.

Dier, of course, did his regular job of marshaling the defence and playing a vocal role in the back. Dier’s play on the ball was more impressive, where he was consistently finding spaces between the lines to push forward passes up to the attacking players. Although he did not connect on a ball over-the-top to Richarlison early in the match, it will be something to look for.

One could argue he could have closed the space on the first goal Spurs conceded, but that is just one of several fingers you can point on that play. However, when you add a beautiful goal with his weaker left foot, it was a terrific display from Dier.
