Tottenham midfield ratings

Left wing-back – Sergio Reguilon – 7

If there was supposed to be a battle between Sergio Reguilon and Brighton’s Tariq Lamptey, it never really materialized. Lamptey was in a more advanced role most of the evening, and Reguilon was often running free as a result. Sergio did well getting up and down the flank and was denied a goal by a solid Robert Sanchez save late.

Centre-midfield – Harry Winks – 7

In some respects, Harry Winks had a quiet evening without any critical passes and saw both his shots sail high and wide. However, Winks was excellent on the ball and avoided any poor turnovers. The controlled possession Winks provided is exactly what Conte was looking for, a solid run-out for Winks.

Centre-midfield – Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – 7.5

Pierre Hojbjerg had some pleasant moments in the match as his eye for a key pass in the final third was on display. His ball into Kane’s feet for Spurs’ first goal showed his awareness after a quick turnover. He also played a lovely ball to Reguilon to put the wing-back in for a one-on-one shot. Hojbjerg did turn his back and deflect Yves Bissouma’s shot into the goal but overall, a solid effort from Hojbjerg.

Right wing-back – Emerson Royal – 7

After a tough international break, which saw him receive two yellow cards and get sent off for Brazil, Emerson Royal came out with something to prove on Saturday. Royal was making runs all over the pitch, including a long dribbling run which led to the second goal for Tottenham. A little lucky that his cross was deflected in, the Brazilian likely did not care as the positive result is the kind of thing Royal needs to see.
