Tottenham midfield options
Midfield was the one area of the club with the most turnover and change. Instead of carrying several attacking midfielders – which have a minor role in Conte’s typical four-person midfield – Spurs now have more box-to-box type players with the addition of Rodrigo Bentancur.
Bentancur provides an alternative and complement to Pierre Hojbjerg, who has been nearly run into the ground since coming to north London. Harry Winks and Oliver Skipp round out the senior midfielders in the squad – seemingly leaving Spurs short. This means we should expect to see Harvey White make the occasional bench as it was reported Conte blocked a loan for him.
He is likely to play with just two in the middle with the wing-backs on either side; look for some rotation over the next few months here as Conte finds the right combinations for the right opposition, which he can now do with the addition of Bentancur.
