With several Tottenham Hotspur players still absent or having limited availability, Spurs need some players to step up, look for these three to do the job Wednesday at Leicester City.

Tottenham knows that Heung-Min Son is out, while other important players like Eric Dier, Cristian Romero, and Steven Bergwijn are all highly questionable at best. What this means is that Tottenham is going to need some players to step up and fill some shoes in a big way in an important game.

Tottenham need leadership on defence

The first player that needs to really step up is Davinson Sanchez. The Colombian defender has been really good since the loss of Romero back in November, however, with Dier also out, cracks have again appeared in the Tottenham defence. Eric Dier brings terrific leadership and organization to Spurs’ defence, which is lacking when the Englishman is out.

On Wednesday against a Leicester City team that likes to attack and send runners in behind the defence, Tottenham needs defensive organization and leadership. This is a perfect opportunity for Sanchez to continue stepping up and maybe even work to push for more minutes even with Dier and Romero healthy.

To beat a Leicester team that has scored eight more goals than Spurs this season – in an equal number of matches (18), Tottenham needs to defend well that starts with Sanchez.
