Integrity is not a word to associate with the Premier League, to begin with – look at VAR – but postponing the Tottenham vs Arsenal in the north London derby is flat out wrong.

Tottenham Hotspur continues to be stuck in neutral as they now have their third game postponed – through no fault of their own – and fourth match total. It is getting to the point that Tottenham Hotspur may as well not play the season as the integrity of the league must be called into question.

The snow in Burnley was one thing, training facilities being closed by the government is another thing, however, having a match postponed for squad mismanagement is absolutely shambolic.

The late request from Arsenal and late announcement from the League only exacerbate the problem as once again Tottenham could have had a make-up game, with proper planning.

Instead of making up their UEFA Conference League game on a Premier League matchday which was ultimately postponed, Spurs were denied. As a result, they were knocked out of the competition, costing the club millions.

With four games to make up over the last three months of the season, Tottenham is going to be playing midweek make-up games while others are resting, where is the competitive balance with that?  Spurs have not even reached the midway point in their season and the league leaders have played 22 matches.

Covid is not the cause for Tottenham Arsenal postponement

Ultimately, the biggest complaint from any Tottenham fan or any fan of fair sports is that Covid was not the cause for the postponement. Arsenal only has 1 active Covid case and teams have played games with far more Covid issues. Loaning players out – this week – and having a player get suspended are not valid reasons to have a game postponed, except now they are.

According to the league, even one Covid case puts a team in a position to make an appeal. If anyone thinks Arsenal will be the last team to use this newly created loophole, they are fooling themselves.

Next. Tottenham and Arsenal both looking for third straight win. dark

When the Premier League season runs into June this year, remember this day, when the league lost the plot and made this officially the Postponement League.
