Tanguy Ndombele has trained alone at Hotspur Way this week, adding further evidence that the exiled midfielder is a dead man walking at Tottenham.

Spun as as ‘specialized conditioning treatment’, Ndombele comes onto to the pitch with his teammates and then goes off alone with a member of the sports science staff. Sounds like Tottenham’s version of a timeout.

The situation with Tanguy has been tenuous for some time now, but quickly became untenable when the irritable Frenchman sauntered petulantly off after being rightfully withdrawn in the second half against Morecambe FC.

In the immediate aftermath of that deplorably regrettable behaviour, Tottenham put the football world on notice, advising other clubs that Ndombele is for sale.

It’s hard for any player to come back from such a public display of defiance, further exemplified by his solitary confinement at training. The club, for optics and public relations reasons, are, of course, going to disseminate the information in a diplomatic way.

This is what Conte said about Ndobmele’s solitary confinement:

"“It was a technical decision but before to take the decision, I don’t take the decision if I don’t consult the club. There is the club line and I have to follow the club line.In this moment Tanguy Ndombele is a Tottenham player. For this reason, you have to consider him a Tottenham player,”"

Whichever way you slice it, Ndombele is on death row in north London. The looming question is when the execution date will be set for. Roma are still said to be interested in taking Ndombele off Tottenham’s hands in a potential loan deal, but thus far no other tangible interest has been reported.

Ndombele, whose exorbitant salary is on par with Harry Kane’s, is a top-tier earner, causing intrinsic challenges in Tottenham’s tireless plight to try offload the shunned Frenchman.

The worst-case scenario is becoming more likely for Tottenham, with the daunting prospect of being forced to keep a player who has no future at the club, all the while paying him £200,000 a week to train alone and ride the pine on Sundays.
