An unsurprising, necessary transfer development after Tottenham FA Cup win
By Gary Pearson
Tanguy Ndombele endured another appalling effort in the first half against Morecambe yesterday, accelerating talks of an imminent Tottenham exit.
Supporters were outraged not only by the Frenchman’s performance, but by the way in which he petulantly sauntered off the pitch after being withdrawn. It was one defiant step too far, the final nail in his Spurs coffin.
Ndombele’s future at Spurs was already in serious doubt prior to the Morecambe debacle, and Fabio Paratici will use the unhappy player’s inept performance against the lowly League One side as motivation to get a deal done.
In the immediate aftermath of Ndombele’s peaceful tantrum, Fabrizio Romano published a tweet, in-coincidentally timed, about Tottenham’s desire to rid themselves of the enigmatic Frenchman.
Tottenham are as of yet unsure whether Ndombele will be sold or loaned, but understand the urgency to get him off the books.
Jose Mourinho is reportedly interested in acquiring Ndombele on loan at Roma. However, the former Tottenham gaffer’s interest in the prospective loan piqued a few weeks ago. His interest, at least publicly, has quietened since.
Ndombele has raw talent oozing out of every pore, so Tottenham shouldn’t have too many problems find would-be takers. Conducting business in January is always more challenging, though, and the financial constraints associated with the pandemic have only magnified the complexities.
For an abundance of reasons, expect frequent developments in this story as Paratici works overtime to complete this important bit of business.
