Tottenham are thought to be interested in prying Patrik Schick away from Bayer Leverkusen, a rumour that won’t lead to anything in foreseeable future.

A desirous commodity for at least five Premier League teams, Schick is following up a successful European Championships with a standout season in the Bundesliga.

Currently second in the Bundesliga’s Golden Boot race, three ahead of Erling Haaland and three behind Robert Lewandowski, Schick is garnering attention from a number of influential clubs, including Tottenham both Manchester sides.

Along with the quagmire of going up against City and United in securing his signature, Schick is the most important element of returning Leverkusen to the Champions League. They currently sit in fourth place, a point adrift of Freiburg, in the battle for Champions League football. There is no way Leverkusen will allow their most prized asset to leave with Europe’s most prestigious club competition beckoning.

That and the fact Schick is locked in a contract until 2025 makes the chances of him going anywhere, let alone Spurs, more slim than Nuno ever being reappointed as Spurs manager.

Next. Tottenham's most telling improvements since Antonio Conte took charge. dark

There is a chance Bayer Leverkusen will listen to lucrative offers, nothing less than £50 million, at the end of the season, but not before.

So this rumour should be put on ice for the meantime. Though Schick is an appealing front man with numerous attractive qualities, he won’t be packing his bags for England anytime soon.
