Antonio Conte wasted no time in getting his players prepared for Thursday’s match at Leicester, as Tottenham returned to the training ground with a labour-intensive double session.

Thursday’s match, unless anything untoward develops in the coming days, should go ahead as planned. Every Spurs supporter around the globe will be excited to hear that news. Spurs haven’t played since thrashing Norwich 3-0 last Sunday.

While a week doesn’t sound like a long inactive period, Spurs, due to an unprecedented Covid-19 outbreak, have missed two crucial fixtures, one of which, a European contest against Rennes, that will not be rescheduled.

Conte and his coaching staff know the importance of every match and will be keen on picking up where they left off against Norwich. Spurs, with two matches in hand, are just three points adrift of fourth place West Ham.

Until more is known about the health of individual players, it will be nearly impossible to predict Conte’s starting eleven for the match at King Power Stadium. Hopefully 10 days rest will allow even those directly impacted by Covid-19 enough time to be in Conte’s squad. Though nothing is straightforward when Covid-19 is part of the equation.

At least the almost two weeks off will provide a welcome rest for Spurs’ walking wounded. Sergio Reguilon, as long as he wasn’t directly impacted by Covid-19, should be in contention to start against Leicester. Cristian Romero is another case entirely, with the Argentine not scheduled to make his return for at least another month.

In typical Conte fashion, Spurs went through a gruelling double session on Sunday. The Italian gaffer will not allow complacency to infiltrate the camp. Returning to a semblance of normality is precisely what Spurs require to ensure they start Thursday’s match on the front foot.

Next. If you look hard enough, there is a silver lining in current Tottenham crisis. dark

Spurs land wait with fervour and bated breath to see what version of the Lilywhites come out of the King Power tunnel on Thursday. But knowing Conte like we do, expect Spurs to be as prepared as humanly possible for their return to top flight action.
