Midfield

Giovanni Lo Celso 2/10

Giovanni Lo Celso, who replaced Tanguy Ndombele in the No. 10 role, had a disastrous afternoon. Every aspect of his game let him down. His passes were flaccid and off the mark. He wasn’t enterprising and made no incisive passes. The Argentinian had a golden chance to send Sonny through on goal in the second half, but his weak, under-hit pass was a perfect reflection of his disappointing outing.

Pierre Hojberg 3/10

For the second match in a row, the rugged Dane’s passing was way off the mark. He set Oliver Skipp up for failure with a zipped lateral pass, which the Englishman couldn’t handle. That led to United’s second goal. He gave the ball away repeatedly and will ruminate over a second poor performance in as many weeks.

Oliver Skipp 2/10

The youngster has been one of Spurs’ standout performers in what has been a disappointing season thus far. The wheels, however, fell off for Skipp against United today. He couldn’t handle Hojberg’s zipped lateral ball, which United capitalized on. While the most consequential, it wasn’t the only mistake Skipp made. Like his midfield partner, Skipp conceded possession unnecessarily multiple times. He was lucky Ronaldo was flagged offside during another sequence in which he was left wanting in the middle of the park.

Son Heung-min 3/10

You know something is terribly wrong when Son Heung-min receives a 3/10. His corner kicks consistently failed to clear the front man, he snatched at a few shot opportunities and was palpably negative

Lucas Moura 2/10

Not sure what to say about Lucas’ performance. Other than a couple of decent runs in the first half, Lucas was a ghost.
