Tottenham: Player ratings from Spurs 0-1 Carabao Cup win over Burnley

Tottenham Substitute and Coach Ratings
Nuno Espirito Santo and Tottenham were more active with the substitutes than has been the case for much of the season. The injury to Gil forced an early move and then Santo reacted sooner than he has previously to try and change things in the second half.
Lucas Moura – Right forward
Lucas Moura played well over an hour after coming on for the injured Gil. Moura was active on both ends of the pitch working to track back defensively and then driving the ball forward in attack. Lucas picked up a couple of fouls earning Spurs one good free-kick opportunity and of course scored the game-winner. A solid all-around performance. 8
Son Heung-Min – Left forward
Son Heung-Min came in as part of a double change at about 66 minutes. Son replaced Bergwijn but had no real impact on proceedings. Spurs scored soon after Son’s introduction and then went to a very defensive approach to hold that lead. N/A
Tanguy Ndombele – Midfield
Tanguy Ndombele came on at the same time as Son for Oliver Skipp. Presumably, Ndombele came on to provide a bit more offensive punch. Spurs scored only a few minutes later and then sat deeper making Ndombele’s introduction less impactful. Looked active in his minutes. N/A
Joe Rodon – Defense
Joe Rodon came on for the last five minutes and injury time in place of Giovani Lo Celso. Rodon settled in the back between Romero and Emerson creating more or less a back five for Spurs. N/A
Coach Santo
Nuno had a better mix of players on the day to avoid that two squads feel. Needing a win in a big way, you can understand the strength of the team he rolled out. Went overly conservative after the goal when Spurs probably could have added to the lead. The overall structure was better and a clean sheet is step one in a good Santo match. 7
