Tottenham midfield ratings

Spurs midfield bossed most of the game, keeping the majority of the possession and rotating well among the three main central players.

Giovani Lo Celso – Attacking midfield

Giovani Lo Celso played a solid all-around game for Tottenham. Lo Celso had a couple of really good passes for Spurs, including one between the Burnley lines to Kane which Spurs talisman should have finished. Consistently available for receiving the ball, Lo Celso did not give a reason to not play at the weekend. 7

Pierre Hojbjerg – Defensive midfield

Pierre Hojbjerg played as one of the two holding or defensive midfielders for Tottenham. Hojbjerg was the player who sat deepest most of the day and worked diligently to keep the play in front of him as a protector for the backline. Did not do anything particularly special on either side of the ball but put in his shift. 6.5

Oliver Skipp – Defensive midfield

Oliver Skipp played a strong hour for Nuno Santo, providing some defensive bite and some offensive push. Skipp was on the ball often in the first half and had a couple of critical tackles. He may have gotten lucky there was no VAR for one tackle where he seemed to go over the ball but was not malicious. Spurs had a harder time controlling possession after he left the pitch although they scored shortly thereafter. 7
