The match Wednesday at Turf Moor was played in some rough weather. There were huge gusts of wind and a constant downpour of rain making the surface poor and conditions difficult. While Tottenham dominates possession over large portions of the match, Spurs struggled to consistently create chances. The chances created were often wasted as players had a hard time getting the ball on frame.

In what became a match of survival, Tottenham made a big play and Burnley did not. That difference helped Tottenham Hotspur break their road losing streak with a Carabao Cup win over Burnley at Turf Moor. Here are our ratings for Spurs from the big 0-1 win.

Lucas Moura – Tottenham player of the game

Lucas Moura did not start on Wednesday, however, the Brazilian attacker was the biggest factor in Spurs winning the game.

On the game’s only goal, it was Moura tracking back into his defensive half and bringing the ball under control about 18 yards behind midfield. After a couple of dribbles, to progress the ball into the attacking half, Moura played a short pass to Kane and then importantly kept running forward.

Kane was able to get the ball to Giovani Lo Celso, who then got the ball wide to Emerson Royal. Royal drove a first-time cross into the box, which seemed to deflect right to Lucas on the penalty spot. The Brazilian rose up and head the ball down bouncing the header at the six and past Nick Pope and into the net.

Lucas Moura was not perfect, he played the wrong pass on an attack in the first half, which probably should have resulted in a good Harry Kane shot. However, when push came to shove, it was Moura making the plays to win the game for Spurs.
