Covid results muddy projected XI for Tottenham Hotspur at Newcastle
By Aaron Coe
Tottenham Hotspur was already likely to have several players unavailable. However, reports that Spurs have had two positive Covid test results further clouds an uncertain line-up in a must-win match-up for the Lilywhites.
Tottenham get one back, lose two more
There was some good news on the injury front, as Steven Bergwijn, who had been out for almost the entirety of September has returned and is available for selection. Given the news that the team will now be without two players who have tested positive for Covid, getting Bergwijn back certainly helps.
Reports are not verified by the club but in his press conference, Nuno said Spurs “have problems” but would not elaborate on that any further. Who exactly has tested positive is really all speculation but the name that seems to keep coming up is Son Heung-Min.
All we know for certain is that it was not one of the quartets from South America who was all still in route and the players participated in practice on Thursday. The rumors on Twitter seem to have Heung-Min Son as at least one of the players who will likely miss out for three games during a 10-day isolation stint.
So uncertain are the reports that even the Korean Football Association is investigating if Son is indeed the positive test result, after having multiple negative tests in his time with his national team. So we do our best in predicting Santo’s Spurs XI with the information available on hand, so who is going to start up top.
