With another international break nearing its end, several Tottenham Hotspur players were in action Tuesday, including several big stars, how did they do?

Harry Kane, Son Heung-Min, and Pierre Hojbjerg were all in action on Tuesday evening, unfortunately for Spurs fans, none were playing for Tottenham. While the evening was a disappointment for Kane, Son had some excitement and Hojbjerg bagged the biggest prize available a ticket to the World Cup.

Hojbjerg, Denmark continue unbeaten run

Denmark is a perfect 8-0 in the current round of World Cup qualifying in Group F, meaning the team officially qualified for the 2022 World Cup. Denmark is the second European nation to qualify with Germany having qualified on Monday out of Group J.

Pierre Hojbjerg played the full 90 minutes in the 1-0 win, which was a rough and tumble affair against Austria. The Austrians accumulated a ridiculous 20 fouls in the match, yet had only two yellow cards. Ultimately, Hojbjerg and Denmark won behind an early second-half goal from Joakim Maehle to send the Danes through.

Son scores, South Korean can’t hold lead against Iran

Heung-Min Son scored just three minutes into the second half giving the South Korean team a huge lift and a lead over Iran. Unfortunately, for Spurs talisman, the lead was short-lived as Alireza Jahanbakhsh scored less than 15 minutes after Son had put the Koreans ahead.

The draw leaves South Korea second in their group two points behind Iran but three points in front of Lebanon. The top two teams from South Korea’s Group A along with the top two teams from Group B qualify from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for the World Cup. So while Son and company are in good shape overall, those two extra points would have been huge.

Kane has a disappointing day as England stub toe

At some point, it had to happen and it finally did. After scoring in 15 straight qualifying games for the Three Lions, Harry Kane finally did not score in a qualifier for England. Kane had a disappointing day overall, with only one solid half-chance to speak of.

Kane was substituted in the second half for Tammy Abraham and Abraham went on to get injured, so maybe it was meant to be that Kane did not play particularly well and came off. The draw was only the second such result next to six wins in eight matches, leaving the Three Lions on top of Group I but not officially qualified with Albania only five points adrift in third place in the table.

Other Tottenham players in action Tuesday

Matt Doherty played the first 45 minutes in the Republic of Ireland’s shellacking of Qatar 4-0. The score was already 2-0 at the half when Doherty came off. Spurs loan player, Troy Parrott, did get 12 minutes replacing Callum Robinson who had a hat-trick.

Several academy players also were in action for their nation’s youth teams, but no other senior players played.

At this point the break is over for many of the players, however, the South American contingent of Davinson Sanchez, Giovani Lo Celso, Cristian Romero, and now Emerson Royal remain in South America for games on Thursday and Friday. When those players return and how quickly they can get back on the field for Spurs may be a major storyline heading into the next fortnight.

Next. Three Suprises for Spurs thus far. dark
