Things going right for Nuno Espirito Santo at Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham need two in the deep midfield
Santo and Spurs made a genuine effort to go for a 4-3-3 to start the season. In the preseason as well as the early matches the 4-3-3 was working for Spurs in terms of defensive organization and just enough offensive fizz.
Ultimately, Tottenham does not have the right squad for running a 4-3-3 system and after a few injuries and absences, the team was quickly exposed. This has led Santo and Spurs back to playing with two holding midfielders, which has shown more success.
Skipp and Hojbjerg the backbone for Tottenham
Having Skipp man the middle with Pierre Hojbjerg gives Tottenham both some skill and steal bringing balance to the team. Both are more known for hanging back defensively but, either is capable of bursting forward and making a run.
Hojbjerg in particular has been effective in pushing up into the box even scoring multiple goals already from the midfield. The confidence Skipp provides to allow Pierre to attack is helping him grow as a player and contributor.
It has taken some time but playing with both Hojbjerg and Skipp has shown it will work for this team right now.
