Tottenham Hotspur projected XI for Chelsea in the Premier League
By Aaron Coe
After a hard-earned point on Thursday in the Conference League, Tottenham is back in action against Chelsea Sunday in the last game of the weekend. Here is our projected XI.
Nuno Espirito Santo and Tottenham Hotspur have their work cut out for them on Sunday against the European Champions. This task is compounded by the fact that several first-team players, including the top three wingers, are all likely to miss the match.
Having lost their last Premier League match, the feel-good factor from an unbeaten 3-0 start is long gone after the 0-3 loss to Crystal Palace. Injuries, absences, or not, Tottenham fans expect more from Nuno Santo and his team. Fortunately for Santo, despite being without several players still, a few players have returned, which should provide some help on defense.
Who is out for Tottenham?
Spurs are 1005 without Japhet Tanganga who is suspended following his red card against Palace last weekend. Outside of Tanganga, all of the injured Tottenham players are reported to be assessed ahead of the match, according to Spurs’ official site.
This group to be assessed including starting center-back Eric Dier, the entire opening day front-line – Heung-Min Son, Steven Bergwijn, and Lucas Moura – as well as Ryan Sessegnon. The Sessegnon loss is particularly painful as he should be one of the players trying to replace those injured but just cannot stay on the field.
Based on the idea that none of those six are available, here is our projected XI, starting with the goalkeeper and defenders.
