Former Tottenham star Christian Eriksen, after collapsing in Denmark’s Euro 2020 opener against Finland,  is stable and responsive as he begins his recovery in a Copenhagen hospital.

The football world were in a state of shock and concern while they waited with bated breath to hear of Eriksen’s condition. He lay on the field unconscious as medics rushed to his aid. The MVPs and heroes of the tournament administered CPR and were able to bring Erisken back to consciousness.

Eriksen regained consciousness as he was being stretchered off, and the world collectively exhaled. An incredibly scary moment put football into perspective for a lot of people across the globe. Sworn enemies unified in the name of solidarity. The great Dane’s well being is the only thing anyone cares about.

The Denmark vs. Finland match surprisingly resumed after a lengthy delay. Most people thought the match should have been postponed for at least a day, allowing players on either side to collect themselves in what was the most distressing scene they will most likely ever be confronted with.

The fact the match resumed was a testament to how well Eriksen was doing in hospital. It was clear he was out of the woods. Had Eriksen’s health been at all in peril, the match wouldn’t have continued.
