French publication Le10sport is stirring the pot with its latest article, outlining how PSG “wouldn’t oppose” Mauricio Pochettino leaving for Tottenham.

Only one day after Pochettino’s influence helped bring Georginio Wijnaldum to PSG, thereby killing any hope of him returning to Tottenham, the rousing Le10sport article certainly does its job of stirring the hornet’s nest.

Don’t worry too much about reading Le10sport’s piece as it basically outlines the fact that PSG are desirous of targeting former Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane to usurp Pochettino. Zidane, however, is adamant that he is taking some much deserved time away from football.

The article says PSG has other intentions, almost goading Pochettino to walk away from the club so they can make Zidane a salacious, exorbitant offer he wouldn’t be able to refuse.

And while both PSG and Zidane are keen on one day uniting forces, now is not the time for that sort of upheaval in the French capital. Pochettino is currently immersed in the PSG project, pulling the transfer strings and readying the club to make a run at next season’s Champions League.

Le10sport’s unsubstantiated rhetoric doesn’t change that fact. Leaving sources anonymous or unnamed, as seen in the French publication’s latest piece, is common practice in today’s world of sensationalist journalism.

However, this feels more like Le10sport trying to change the narrative, to intensify the pressure on Pochettino and convince him of a potentially clearer, unimpeded route to the Tottenham job. Though Pochettino, PSG sporting director Leonardo and Chairman and CEO Nasser Al-Khelaïfi have all moved on, readying their club for the season ahead.

It’s time for Tottenham to do the same.

Next. Finally some good news in Tottenham manager hunt. dark

Yes, Al-Khelaïfi and Leonardo are massive proponents of Zidane’s (who isn’t in France?), but the prospect of him managing PSG is a thought for the future. That possibility might come to fruition in the not to distant future, but for now Pochettino is their man.
