With the drumbeat of Serge Aurier‘s departure growing louder, Sky Sports said PSG was a done deal today, Tottenham is going to need a new right-back. We have already looked at some pricier options at right-back, who are seemingly ready-made to step into the team. However, as we saw with Sergio Reguilón on the left, sometimes taking a chance on a less-proven product is worth it for Tottenham. Given the budget and the numerous needs for Tottenham here are some less expensive but equally tantalizing right-back options.

Reguilón before Tottenham Hotspur

It is important to understand that Sergio Reguilón was not breaking into the Real Madrid squad at left-back, which led to his loan to Sevilla, where the Spaniard broke out. With 3 goals and 5 assists in his one season at Sevilla, Reguilón certainly garnered a lot of attention and was even on the La Liga team of the season.

However, if you really look at things, Reguilón only played 63% of the available minutes for Sevilla, appearing in 38 of 54 possible fixtures. Additionally, despite the breakthrough all Madrid wanted to do was cash in, which they did when Tottenham spent $33 million (£23.2 million) on the back.  In looking at Reguilón’s season, while few backs had that kind of offensive impact there are several young backs in Europe that display similar traits and are much, much more affordable.

Five backs under $10 million for Tottenham

Tottenham has a lot of holes to fill and finding a quality right-back who can develop opposite Sergio Reguilón is definitely a good idea. Here are five fullbacks who each offer something different who have all had solid years and should be ready for that next step, which Tottenham could be.
