Tottenham fans got to say some goodbyes

Okay, maybe this is not a positive so much – depending on who the 10,000 or so fans were really saying goodbye to. Clearly, there is major speculation around Harry Kane and if that was his goodbye, at least he had one – that is the nicest thing you can say about the performance.

Beyond Kane, however, there were a number of other players who likely or maybe hopefully playing their last games for Tottenham Hotspur.

Harry Winks, Dele Alli, and Eric Dier are all long-term players under long-term deals but all three are probably better off playing somewhere other than N17 at this point. Winks is simply not good enough for the ambition of the fans. Dele Alli has lost it and needs a fresh start somewhere new. As for Dier, he needs a slower league where his lack of athleticism will not be so much trouble.

Besides those three, Hugo Lloris is down to the last year in his contract and Spurs could receive some bids for his services. We even saw Matt Doherty, who although new to the team seems destined to be re-sold.

Finally, there was Gareth Bale who the fans cheered loudly for, hoping for some magic. However, Villa was not relegation fodder and Bale had little to no impact on the match. He did manage a decent cross, which is more than can be said for some others on the evening. We know Bale is going back to Madrid in a couple of weeks as for next season, that is for a later discussion.

Regardless of who really is or is not sold, at least a few of the lads got to say goodbye.
