Tottenham Hotspur really could have used three points against Aston Villa and failed to do so, which was bad. However, even in defeat, you try to find that silver lining, which is increasingly more difficult but still possible for Spurs. Here we take away three positives from the Tottenham Hotspur home finale loss to Aston Villa.

Europe not impossible for Tottenham

Some may question the value of the Europa League or the Europa Conference League. However, would Harry Kane really be a Tottenham star if not for Europa League and the chances it presented? The majority of Premier League teams 13 or 65% will not have any midweek matches through European competition.

Anyone who thinks it is better to not have any European competition should think about a stadium empty six out of seven days per week and know that no new players are coming. Tottenham needs European football both financially and for the health of the squad. Despite another loss from the lead, the Spurs still have some measure of control.

If Tottenham wins a worst-case scenario is the inaugural Europa Conference League and the best-case scenario is Europa League. Clearly, a win against Villa would have really helped as would have a win over Leeds. The fact of the matter is that things are what they are at the moment and a win still means something that no one can take away.
