It is hard to say if this was Daniel Levy trying to get right with the fans following the fallout from the European Super League announcement. However, regardless of the reasoning, it is safe to say that most Tottenham Hotspur fans were happy to see the announcement that the José Mourinho experience is over, as the Portuguese coach and his staff were relieved of their duties.

Strange Timing for Tottenham and Mourinho

Given that Tottenham has a Cup Final on Sunday, which was the reason Mourinho was brought in, to begin with, the timing is quite strange.  It is strange timing for Tottenham Hotspur to can Mourinho and his staff considering some of the losses the team has suffered over the last couple of months.

If Levy and the club had been thinking about this move, sacking Mourinho after Europa League but before the last international break would have made sense. Giving the new caretaker coach, who is apparently Ryan Mason, for now, more time with the side over the international break would have made sense. Instead, the club has used this announcement to help take some of the stings over the response received to the European Super League Announcement.

Now, we have to hope for that new manager bounce with Mason, to help overcome Manchester City and Pep Guardiola in the League Cup Final.

A lot can happen in seven matches for the Spurs

If nothing else, we should expect Ryan Mason to set up his side to attack and do the things that the previous regime did not, with the deep line and two holding midfielders. With 18 points and a Cup Trophy still up for grabs, a bounce right now can really help this team.

At this point, most of the Tottenham fans and many of the Tottenham players have gotten what they wanted, which was rid of José Mourinho. Now we can see if the issue was really the coach or the players, the attitude or the ability.
