It is no secret that the current change in fortune for Manchester United began a year ago in January when Bruno Fernandes joined the Red Devils from Sporting FC.  Since that time Fernandes has been a real catalyst for United in their resurgence in the League and their run in Europe. For Tottenham Hotspur to beat Manchester United Sunday and keep their top-four hopes alive, it all starts and ends with stopping Bruno Fernandes.

Stopping Fernandes Key to Tottenham

Tottenham needs to stay in front of Marcus Rashford and be ready to run with him as the Englishman is used to stretch the pitch. The Spurs also have to stay disciplined and maintain their shape in the box as Edinson Cavani is a world-class poacher – even at 34. However, everything that makes Manchester United most dangerous revolves around their number 10, Bruno Fernandes.

United has scored 95 goals in all competitions this season and Fernandes has had a hand in 41% of those goals with 24 goals and 15 assists. The Portuguese attacking midfielder has an incredibly deadly right foot – that like Christian Eriksen – he is willing to unleash from almost anywhere at any time. His goals are setting the pace for the club as are his assists.

Fernades is one of those players where everyone starts to run when he gets the ball because almost anyone could get it. The ability to play with both feet and a willingness to play balls forward long and short make Fernandes one of the most dangerous players in Europe right now. However, with the right focus, Tottenham can stop Fernandes and sweep Manchester United this season with a win on Sunday. Read on to see how Tottenham can stop Fernandes.
