As Tottenham’s Jose Mourinho gets set to do battle with Manchester United, let’s take a look at how the gaffer has fared against Premier League sides he used to manage.

This will be Jose’s fourth test against the Red Devils since leaving Old Trafford in 2018, all of which as Tottenham manager. He has split the first three matches, winning one, losing one and drawing one.

His most memorable outing occurred earlier this season when Tottenham stormed into Old Trafford and thrashed United 6-1. Spurs were galvanized by the momentous win, and in following weeks elevated to the top of the Premier League table. It was Tottenham’s most dominant win at Old Trafford and one that will be etched forever in the history books.

As Tottenham gaffer, Jose lost to 2-1 at United earlier in the 2019-20 campaign, a result that was followed up by a home draw after the schedule resumed post COVID lockdown. The last two results against United were devoid of supporters.

Mixed results against Chelsea

Jose, as Tottenham, United and Inter manager, has one just five of his 15 encounters against the West Londoners. That’s a win rate of 33 percent. He has yet to beat Chelsea in the Premier League as Spurs’ gaffer, losing three of four while earning a single draw.

Tottenham beat Chelsea in the early stages of this season’s Carabao Cup, albeit on penalties. Prior to taking the helm at Tottenham, Jose had won five of four of 10 matches against The Blues. Jose will be bitterly disappointed with not being able to get the better of his former sides more consistently.

Tomorrow offers another massive opportunity for Jose to get one over on a former side and in the process help alleviate the growing tension in North London.
